    Flat-Coated Retriever Rescue Information: Flat-Coated Retrievers are a popular breed of gundog. Flat-Coats are pleasant and energetic. They make excellent retrievers on land and in water. Flat-Coated Retrievers are extremely friendly and affectionate toward everyone, including children, strangers, and other dogs. Flat-Coats need to be with people. Flat-Coated Retrievers are ideal inside-outside dogs that need a good sized yard in which to play.

    Flat-Coated Retriever Trivia: The Flat-Coated Retriever is descended from North American Newfoundlands brought into Great Britain from Canada. The Flat-Coated Retriever dates back to the mid nineteenth century. The Flat-Coated Retriever almost died out during World War II. The Flat-Coated Retriever was supposed to have been descended from the St. John's Water Dog, but this turns out not to be the case. Flat-Coated Retrievers greet other Flat-Coats with a kiss, with each licking the lips of the other dog.
