Miss Lola was soon to be put down. We drove to Los Angeles to meet her and all the shelter people told us she was a biter and not adoptable. She had serious ear infections in both ears, and flies were buzzing around her head. She looked miserable. She wagged her tail a bit. We could see there was a sweet girl in there somewhere, but we have small grandchildren, and the news that she was a biter greatly discouraged us. Plus, the severe ear problem was more than I was comfortable dealing with, if she was a biter. I let Flat-Coated Retriever Society of America (FCRSA) know that she looked like she could be a sweet girl and she needed someone who could take on her and her issues. Well, the next week FCRSA let me know she had been at a vet for a week, but they could not find a home for her. The vet staff had no problem with her biting. I drove down to get her. I asked the staff how she was, and they said she was sweet, no biting. We met. I brought her home, and she is delightful! We are working on her not chasing our two cats, and she gets better every day with her self-restraint. She has a wonderful personality, and is very funny! Thank you, Rescue Me! |
