A few words from Leonardo's overnight foster! 'Best words to describe Leonardo are scrappy and a little dorky. He's resourceful, smart and a little too curious for his own good. However, when he is not trailing you around everywhere to investigate or wondering how the vacuum works, Leo is an absolute goofball. He delights in dropping all his weight on the floor, letting out a big sigh and then rolling on his back waiting for big tummy rubs. He's an absolute dream on the leash and loves running around at the parks. He's never met a stranger and gets a lot of attention walking around the city 'cause of his awesome smile and beautiful fur. ... Rescue Me ID: 15-02-24-00558Maya (female)

Flat-Coated Retriever Mix    Age: Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Maya was thrown in a back yard and forgotten for years, and she relied on her own intuition to survive. Some of the choices she's made haven't been the best but she just did the best she could and she's a survivor. She's learned humans aren't to be trusted, they only cause hardship and pain. Other animals aren't to be trusted as they are a lot like the humans she's met. She's never known 'trust, love, friendship' but she's learning. Maya has been through obedience training and has some tools now that will allow her to gain the confidence she needs and start building a loving trusting relationship with her next human. She's going to fall ... (Read More)head over heels in love with someone and be fiercely loyal to them. She's probably never going to be a social butterfly, but to that one family who grants her unconditional love, she's going to pledge her life. She's looking for someone with a firm loving hand to show her what it's like to be a loved dog. She's slow to trust but it does come to her. Once she crosses that bridge with you, she will steal your heart. Maya is around 5 1/2 years old. She is house trained, crate trained, rides great in a car, and has minimal shedding. Being part Chow, she will have some grooming needs. She loves the safety of her crate. Loves knowing her human companion is in charge and will keep her safe. lnteresting Flat-Coated Retriever Trivia Low-Cost Texas Spay & Neuter Clinics
The Flat-Coated Retriever is descended from North American Newfoundlands brought into Great Britain from Canada. The Flat-Coated Retriever dates back to the mid nineteenth century. The Flat-Coated Retriever almost died out during World War II. The Flat-Coated Retriever was supposed to have been descended from the St. John's Water Dog, but this turns out not to be the case. Flat-Coated Retrievers greet other Flat-Coats with a kiss, with each licking the lips of the other dog.
