Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant

Momma is a very smart gal. We saved her from a kill shelter when she was pregnant on a Thursday before she died on Friday. She had 10 pups on the following Monday! She loves to sleep on the porch in nice weather and on the doggie bed in the house. She is housetrained and will lay beside you in the chair of you let her. Momma will try to intimidate the females and be the gal in charge so neutered males would be better friends for her. She loves everyone and will retrieve. She is good on a leash and commands.

Cindi I am involved in dog rescue: my wallet and gas tank are always running on empty, my house is never quiet and free of dog hair, nor is my car, my inbox is full of ongoing despair and misery, but my heart and soul are replenished with unconditional love, loyalty, and joy that can only come from a rescued dog! Rescue Me ID: 13-10-23-00628Blackie (male)

Flat-Coated Retriever Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Blackie was formerly living on a chain. Then my friends at Coalition to Unchain dogs built his caretaker a fence for Blackie and the other strays the man had taken in.. Shortly thereafter, the caretaker became ill and was no longer able to care for them. They found homes for some, others they placed with rescue groups. We were asked to take Blackie. Blackie needed socialization, as he was very scared. Blackie was found to be healthy, heartworm negative but he had double dewclaws that had become ingrown. That had to be painful but he never complained as we cut them and pulled out ingrown nails from his pads. We had the dewclaws surgically ... (Read More)removed so that will never happen again. He has gained confidence in his foster home and we feel he is ready to find his fur-ever home. He greets his foster Mom and Dad with a wagging tail. He still prefers to be outside (unless the weather is bad) playing with other dogs. He is learning to play with toys, something he never had. He loves treats and will gently take them from your hand. Blackie doesn't have a mean bone in his body. This beautiful dog is so sweet; he wants and deserves a loving home. Blackie weighs 48lbs now and is about 2 years old, on preventatives and up to date on vaccinations. We would like to find Blackie a home with older children, another dog (or two) to play with, and a fenced yard. For more information & adoption application please contact VivGraves@hotmail.com. Adoption fee of $175 to help defray veterinary, and care costs. (Less)
